At a gathering with his faithful voters in Piotrków Trybunalski Donald Tusk referred to the Mercosur agreement. He asked the key question: "Why are we afraid that Argentine beef will arrive, overcome these thousands of kilometres, and be more attractive to Poles in the store? I do not know what the higher production costs in Poland are”.
Well, I'm certain the trusted advisors told Tusk that Argentine farmers usage pesticides in bulk, and that increases the cost of their production. In Poland, throughout the European Union, the usage of pesticides is prohibited, farmers don't spend money on them, so they have lower costs. It's logical. And since no of the trusted advisors told Tusk anything about the yields, or yields from a hectare, of fodder plants for cows, I don't think anyone is surprised. After all, Tusk and his advisors are liberals and recognise the free marketplace alternatively than the yield economy. Plonk or plank, Tusk 1 knows...
Although Tusk does not realize “what is the higher cost of production in Poland” It's not closing in. He is open to suggestions, as he says: “Let's do it together so they're afraid of Polish beef, not us Argentine! Let them start to fear Polish farmers, Polish products, everything that comes from Poland.”.
Mr. Tusk, if you're actually wondering how to do this, I'm making a constructive proposal. Let the European Union prohibit Argentina and all Mercosur countries from utilizing pesticides. And let the peculiar commissioners, and not the increase, I mean, keep a close eye on these bans. South American farmers will reduce production costs and Polish farmers will take on a glove and stand up to this competition. Then we'll see who's afraid of who. I think that's a fair offer.
