On Sunday, Poles acted in defence of life. Marches for Life and household took place in 16 different towns. It was a strong protest against abortion and an expression of support for the country's household values and sovereignty.
From April to October, the Marches for Life and household are held in more than 50 cities of Poland, the aim is to express strong opposition to actions limiting the right to life from conception to natural death. The Polish Episcopal Conference besides expresses its encouragement to participate in the march.
On Sunday, June 16, marches were held in Warsaw, Krakow and Gdańsk, but besides in smaller cities specified as Łęczna, Gryfice or Dzierżoniów.
“My husband and wife – a united family”, “Time for a family”, “United for life, household and homeland” – specified slogans could be seen during the 19th March for Life and Family, which took place on Sunday afternoon in Warsaw. The march departed from 3 Cross Square, marched down Wiejska Street and ended at Belvedere.
The way of the march was carefully chosen. Participants started the event with Mass in St. Alexander's Church, where you can inactive see traces of events from years ago, erstwhile there were “black” protests, and the church was intentionally contaminated with paint. The march was inaugurated in the Square of 3 Crosses in Warsaw, which is of peculiar importance due to the current controversy over the presence of crosses in the public space with the decision of the city president. Paweł Kwasniak pro-life activist pointed out that their initiative expresses opposition to the resignation of symbols profoundly rooted in the Polish tradition.
Participants demonstrated their support for the protection of life from conception to natural death, as well as highlighting the importance of household and matrimony of female and man. Among their demands were besides the rejection of pro-abortion laws and the restoration of crosses in Warsaw offices.
In the area of the Sejm, participants of the march prayed a tenth of the rosary, while expressing opposition to the financing of the in vitro procedure from the state budget and plans to legalize monogender unions. In the demonstration there was besides a protest against the decision of the president of Warsaw, Rafał Trzaskowski, to remove crosses from the walls of the offices of the capital city. The banners chanted: “We request the return of crosses to the walls of Warsaw offices”.
"We would like to call for the Sejm to reject all pro-abortion projects, to refrain from further proceeding with the draft act on "the speech of hatred" and from actions related to the legalization of partnerships and to halt harmful changes in education."
Representatives of the Life and household Center distributed stickers and feet with the logo of the organization and the inscriptions “Stop abortion” and “I choose life”.
A truck adorned with balloons, next to it a smaller vehicle with the bell "The Unborn Voice", which was regularly called by people participating in the demonstration, was in the front of the carriage. During the march funds were besides collected to support the Mother's Lonely home in Chylicki close Warsaw. The march was attended by many families, married couples leading tiny children in wheelchairs, younger and older teenagers, women awaiting a child. There were besides scouts and pro-life representatives.
