Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that Poland would start Information campaign in the countries from which the most migrants are coming to the European Union by way through Belarus.
The Regulation suspending the right to asylum entered into force
March 27th, it entered into force a regulation suspending the right to asylum. The Polish government voted on the alleged asylum bill despite wide criticism, among others, from the Ombudsman, Amnesty global and the Helsinki Human Rights Foundation. It allows temporary territorial suspension of the right to apply for global protection.
The limitation of the right to asylum will apply for 60 days. The duration of the regulation may be extended to a further period – no longer than 60 – after the Sejm has given its consent.
The Act lists sensitive groupsfrom which an application for protection must be accepted regardless of the regulation. This is:
- minors;
- pregnant women;
- persons who may require peculiar treatment in peculiar due to their age or condition;
- persons facing circumstances which, in the assessment of the Border defender body, clearly show the real hazard of serious harm in the country from which they came straight to the territory of the Republic of Poland;
- citizens of the country applying instrumentalization from which foreigners arrive in the territory of the Republic of Poland.
Migration force on the Polish-Belarusian border
At 186 km of border with Belarus stands – erected in 2022 – steel barrier with a tallness of 5.5 m. It is simply a key component in securing this border against illegal migration.
