On Thursday, 4 September a gathering was held in Paris between the leaders of the alleged coalition of the willing, or countries willing to supply Ukraine guarantees safety in the event of ceasefire in the war on Russia. Prime Minister Donald Tusk flew from Poland to the French capital.
Macron: 26 countries want to deploy their troops in Ukraine
Emmanuel Macron appeared at a press conference after the gathering ended. “All allies agreed at this table that we must end this war, Russian aggression”, he said.
– Russia is doing everything to prolong the peace talks. Their goal is to wage war against civilians, too. It will last a long time. It's something we can't accept," said Macron.
– The coalition of volunteers, 35 members, present defined its mission and objectives. The most crucial thing is that there should be no regulation of any support from Ukraine in the peace negotiations. We want to rebuild the army of Ukraine. Here we have a declaration of participation of all countries – he pointed out.
He besides added that 26 countries intend to participate in alleged reinsurance forces.
– present we have a number of countries that want to engage in this peace mission to deploy armed forces, their soldiers in Ukraine as reassurance forces, both ground, sea and air forces, to defend Ukraine from Ukrainian territory after a ceasefire or after a peace treaty," he said.
Strategic signal for lasting peace
And he explained that "it is not directed against Russia, but it is expected to be a strategical signal to warrant lasting peace." We besides discussed the conversation with president Trump. We're going to have American guarantees, American support for these safety guarantees. And it will be both military support and political support," the president of France pointed out.
Macro besides mentioned that "a coalition of willing" talked about strengthening sanctions against Russia. "The second thing we decided present is to strengthen the sanctions of both primary and secondary, which is to bring Russia to an end as shortly as possible. We talked about this with president Trump. The next steps are simple. There will be further Russian-American talks and as part of a coalition of willing – he concluded.
Let us add that Donald Tusk besides spoke on the plane back to Poland, who assured that our country was not planning to send troops to Ukraine – neither now nor after the end of the war.
