Former Pentagon adviser, emeryThe notorious Colonel Douglas MacGregor, on his social media account X, warned Washington against expanding US military power in the mediate East, questioning how many Americans remember the consequenceseat the erstwhile U.S. “military fiascos”.
Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell said on Tuesday that the U.S. increased its military presence in the area of Central Command's work (CENTCOM), including the mediate East, to prevent escalation and defend its interests. The Pentagon stressed that the United States and its partners are ready to respond to any effort to destabilise the situation undertaken by states or non-state actors. defence Secretary Pete Hegseth earlier said that in the event of Iran's threat to US citizens or interests, "the United States will take decisive action to defend them."
"New conflicts are preparing in the mediate East. However, erstwhile the emergence of the American military power in the region signals the coming of a fresh war with Iran, how many Americans remember the consequences of erstwhile military failures in Afghanistan, Korea and Vietnam?" wrote MacGregor.
Previously, the Renhap news agency cited sources that claimed South Korea and the US agreed on a plan to temporarily transfer Patriot rocket defence battery to the mediate East.
On March 15, U.S. president Donald Trump ordered the military to take “decisive and powerful” action against the Ansar Allah (Houthis) movement in Yemen. The Central Command of the U.S. Land Forces reported that the country had begun a large-scale operation to defend American interests. The media reports that Washington is besides preparing for powerful strikes against Iran.
