Luxury conditions in safe centers for foreigners for taxpayers' money: Is that fair?

Guarded Centres for Foreigners in Poland are becoming increasingly controversial. Grzegorz Płaczek, a Confederate MP, published photos from the centre in Lesznowola, which cost Polish taxpayers PLN 40 million. The conditions offered by this facility are comfortable adequate that many Poles can only dream about them. Meanwhile, illegal immigrants, considered to be a threat to order and security, are provided with accommodation for at least 2 months – all at the expense of the state.

Guarded Centre in Lesznowola: 40 million PLN Luxury

The Lesznovela Centre is an example of modern infrastructure that is intended to guarantee comfortable surviving conditions for illegal immigrants. As Grzegorz Płaczek describes, the object is equipped with:

  • the computer room,
  • two prayer rooms,
  • smoking cabins (to avoid cold air),
  • multi-purpose sports field,
  • indoor and outdoor gyms,
  • a spacious canteen with meals prepared in accordance with cultural and spiritual requirements.

“Someone truly took his head off things in this country???” commented Płaczek, expressing outrage at specified advanced standards offered to people who illegally crossed the Polish border.

And this is the example of the Guarded Centre for Foreigners in Lesznowola close Warsaw – built for more than 40 million PLN! Przemyski resort: 15 years of operation

Similar conditions be in another centre, described on the website of the Bieszczady Border defender Branch. The Przemyski hotel has been operating for more than 15 years and has a male character. It besides includes detention for foreigners.

Immigrants go to specified facilities erstwhile they illegally cross the border, do not have the required papers or their identity is not confirmed. Many of them are listed in Border defender systems as persons who are a threat to public order and security.

The territory court may decide to place a foreigner in the hotel for a period of 3 months or 60 days, with the anticipation of extending his stay. any immigrants return to their country of origin, others are transferred to another EU countries and any apply for global protection in Poland.

Dilemma: Luxury for immigrants vs. hard conditions of Poles

While illegal immigrants enjoy comfortable conditions in the centres, many Poles face housing problems. In Warsaw, for a tight flat equipped with a bed, shower and toilets, you gotta pay about PLN 2.5 1000 a period – only erstwhile conditions are highly difficult, and media consumption limited to a minimum.

Such a disparity raises questions about justice and the priorities of the state. Why do those who have crossed the border illegally have better conditions than those who respect laws and pay taxes?

Summary

Guarded Centres for Foreigners in Poland is simply a subject that sparks heated discussions. On the 1 hand, the State is required to supply humanitarian conditions for detainees. On the another hand, luxury equipment and advanced maintenance costs of these centres rise doubts, especially in the context of the hard housing situation of many Poles.

Are specified solutions fair? Or is it time for a revision of migration policy and national priorities? These questions stay open, and the discussion on this will surely continue.
