"Nordic and Baltic States (NB8) should strive for joint initiatives to strengthen transatlantic cooperation", says Lithuania's Prime Minister Gintautas Paluckas. "We have agreed [...] that the safety of the Baltic Sea region is inextricably linked to maintaining strong transatlantic ties. During our meeting, we noticed that there is no stronger deterrent for Russia than the presence of US forces in Europe," Paluckas said at a press conference after gathering with the Swedish Prime Minister. "We should strive for common initiatives, most likely in NB8 format, that will further strengthen transatlantic cooperation," added the Prime Minister of Lithuania.

When asked if Washington could be trusted in the current geopolitical situation, the head of the Lithuanian government replied that although "you gotta double-check your social media profiles" all morning to see what is happening across the Atlantic, the agreement between the United States and Europe is inactive important. "We have a past of bilateral and multilateral relations, and even if our beliefs sometimes waver, we inactive have very strong ties and relationships... We must put in our diplomatic and political efforts, but I believe we will last these turbulent times and we will win in having the United States on our side, supporting our region," Paluckas said.

Meanwhile, Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson said that Stockholm and Vilnius's decisions to increase military spending showed that these countries did not treat US presence in the region as obvious.
