The Lithuanian armed forces present reported that in the Oran region, close Lake Lavysas, a drone may have fallen that had previously crossed the state border. In connection with the incidental Prime Minister Inga Ruginiene convened a gathering of the National safety Commission for Tuesday.
"According to preliminary data, the object, most likely a drone, crossed the Lithuanian border last night and fell in the Oran region, close Lake Lavysas," the army said.
There was no indication of which direction the object entered the country. Lake Lavysas is located close the border with Belarus, which, as the Lithuanian media emphasize, may be applicable for determining the circumstances of the incident.
The remains of the object were recovered at the scene. The ‘Skydas’ procedure – the Lithuanian standard emergency consequence protocol – has been launched. Police and fire department are besides involved. An air force chopper was sent to the scene.
The head of the Rugiene government convened a gathering of the National safety Commission to discuss all the circumstances of the event on Tuesday morning (at 10 a.m. local time, 9 a.m. Polish time).
