European media in fresh days report a scandal surrounding the Dutch integration program, which would combine students and refugees under 1 roof. The "Stek Oost" residential task in Amsterdam, created as an innovative solution to housing problems and the integration of migrants, proved to be a nightmare for many young people – mostly students and students who were placed next to 125 refugees. alternatively of harmonious intercourse, they were to experience violence, sexual assaults, threats, and ignorance of authorities.
The leftist experimentation in the Netherlands ended with a series of rapes against young women. The "Stek Oost" task was launched in 2018 on a residential block in the Watergraafsmeer territory of Amsterdam. Its aim was to combine 125 Dutch students with 125 refugees – mainly those who received asylum position – in 1 housing community. The task organizers promoted a model of a "buddy system" in which students were to assist recently arrived students in learning language and adaptation to life in the Netherlands.
Instead of integration, however, students experienced many cases of force and abuse. According to the erstwhile residents' accounts, beatings, stalking and aggression were regularly occurring – besides of a sexual nature. 1 of the most shocking descriptions concerns a girl who in 2019 was invited by a Syrian visitor to his area under the pretext of watching the movie together. erstwhile a female tried to leave, she was detained and brutally raped.
Even though she reported the case to the police, the case was dropped for deficiency of evidence. It was only in 2022 that the attacker was formally detained, and in 2024 sentenced to 3 years in prison, for this and another rape. Students besides reported another serious incidents: from death threats with a kitchen knife to multiple assaults and insults. According to material reported by the media, in the last fewer years at least a twelve reports of sexual assault and physical force have been reported in "Stek Oost".
Despite expanding distress signals, any of the student complaints and warnings remained unaddressed by authorities and organizers. In any cases, victims complained that their reports were ignored or treated as secondary incidents. Officially, the left-wing authorities praised the success of the experiment. Local creditors later explained that there are legal restrictions on the anticipation of evicting residents from their homes – even those who pose a real threat to another tenants.
This approach to public safety – the precedence of the Utopian imagination of the integration of chaotic peoples over the applicable safeguarding of the lives and wellness of citizens – is 1 of the main elements of criticism directed at multicultural policy. In practice, it means a situation where liberal assumptions about an "open society" can lead to de facto risks and harm to those who were to be beneficiaries of integration.
The Stek Oost experimentation one more time reveals the weaknesses of ideology, which assumes that close proximity of people with dramatically different cultural and social experiences automatically leads to harmonious cooperation and assimilation. Critics indicate that left-wing integration policy puts besides frequently on symbols and intentions, alternatively of real hazard analyses and protection mechanisms. It is pure social engineering, not different from the large projects of rebuilding humanity, tried by russian communism.
