From 1910 he was educated in a junior advanced school in Bochni, where he began his independency activity. He joined the firearm Union in 1913. In 1915 he discontinued his education and joined the 3rd Polish Legion Infantry Regiment. He fought, among others, in the conflict of Kostyuchnówka (4-7 July 1916).
After an oath crisis in July 1917, he was incorporated into the Austrian army, from which he escaped in 1918. He joined the Polish Military Organization (POW). He participated in disarming Austrian soldiers stationed in Krakow on 31 October 1918.
OKULICS IN POLISH WAR
In November 1918 he joined the Polish Army. After the outbreak of the Polish-Ukrainian battles for Lviv he fought in the composition of the 4th Legion Infantry Regiment in the area reflection and breaking the Ukrainian blockade around Lviv.
From May 1919 he participated in the Polish-bolshevik War. He participated in fights, among others, in the Volkovsk region, under Lida and Molodeck and in the conflict of the Berezin River. During the war with the Bolsheviks he was injured respective times. For his courage on the front he was awarded the Silver Cross of Virtuti Militari and 3 times the conflict Cross.
From 1923 to 1925 he studied at the Warsaw Higher War School. He then began his staff career; he obtained an assignment to the III Corps territory Command located in Grodno. In 1935 he moved to the Main Staff of the Polish Army, where he participated, among others, in the improvement of war plans with the USSR and Germany.

In September 1939, Okulicki served as a delegate of the Chief Chief of Staff of the Warsaw Defence Command. As a liaison officer and chief of staff of the West section, he organized defenses and straight participated in the battles for the capital, for which he was awarded the Virtuti Military Gold Cross.
LEOPOLD OKULICKI AND CONSPIRATION
After the surrender of Warsaw (27 September 1939), he joined the Polish Conspiracy triumph Service, which was then renamed the Armed Combat Union. Leopold Okulicki served as the commandant of the Łódź territory of ZWZ, then – being the commander of the ZWZ territory in Lviv – organized a conspiracy in areas occupied by the ZSRS.
LEOPOLD RECORD
At night from 21 to 22 January 1941. Okulicki was arrested by the NKVD in his apartment. He was held in the Lviv Brigidka prison and then transported to Moscow Łubianka and Lefortów. During a respective months of investigation, physically tortured Okulicki did not uncover any details of the conspiracy activities; The NKVD offered him no successful cooperation.
OKULICKI IN PES
Okulicki's release was decided by signing the Polish-Soviet Sikorski-Majski agreement. Under amnesty in August 1941, Okulicki left the prison and joined the Polish Armed Forces organized in the USSR, in which he served as chief of staff.
As of March 1942, he commanded the 7th Infantry Division, which was formed in Uzbekistan. In August 1942, he evacuated from the ZSRS to Persia.
OKULICKI – CITY
In July 1943, he left for large Britain, where he worked at the London Chief Executive Staff. During his stay in the British Isles, he organized the Polish conspiracy and took part in parachute training for the silent preparing for the spread to Poland.
OKULICKI IN NATIONAL ARMY
Okulicki was dropped to Poland as part of Operation "Weller 29", which was carried out on the night of 21 to 22 May 1944. After entering occupied Warsaw, he began to operate in the structures of the AK Headquarters.
He was a supporter of Warsaw's “Burza” plan and the author of the plan to recapture the capital from German hands before the russian troops arrived. "The man who organized everything, who convinced everyone but me and respective others, was Okulicki" – emphasized Colonel Janusz Bokszczanin (J. Kurtyk, J. Pawłowicz, "General Leopold Okulicki 1898-1946).
During the Warsaw Uprising, in September 1944 Okulicki assumed the duties of chief of staff of the KG AK. On 1 October 1944, the day before the surrender of the uprising, the fresh Chief General Tadeusz Bór-Komorowski appointed Okulicki chieftain of the AK.
After the defeat of the Uprising Okulicki was in a camp in Pruszków, where he managed to get into the Częstochowa area and start working on reconstruction of the Akowski structures.
LEOPOLD OKULICKI THE LAST COMPENDANT OF THE HEAD AK
On December 21, president Władysław Raczkiewicz officially recognized the election of Okulicki as Chief of the AK.
On 19 January 1945, Okulicki issued an order to demobilize the AK. "The policy pursued by Okulicki (...) was to defend as many soldiers as possible of the AK from future repression of the NKVD and to preserve the organizational skeleton for the fresh occupation," wrote Janusz Kurtyka and Jacek Pawłowicz (J. Kurtyka, J. Pawłowicz, "General Leopold Okulicki 1898-1946).
RELEVANT RECOVERY
On 27 March 1945, he was insidiously arrested by the NKVD in Pruszków, to whom he came to negociate with a typical of command of the 1st Belarusian Front – Colonel Ivanov (ps. Ivan Sierov, head of military counterintelligence "SMIERSZ").
Together with Okulicki the Soviets arrested 15 another leaders of the Polish Underground State.
OCULIC ‘SIXTH PROCESS’
The detainees of the Polish independency Underground were imprisoned in Łubiance, Moscow, and then tried in a show trial – the alleged "process of sixteen" – on 21 June 1945 by the Military College of the ultimate Court of the USSR.

The Circumstances of Okulicka Death
General Leopold Okulicki died on 24 December 1946 in Moscow. The circumstances of his death have not yet been explained. russian authorities claimed that Okulicki's death was due to paralysis and heart attack in Moscow prison. However, it cannot be ruled out that Okulicki was murdered. On Christmas Eve 1946, Adam Bień, another convict in "the 16th trial", saw the NKVD officers escort Okulicki out of his cell – possibly for execution. (PAP)
