Lebanon has a fresh president 801 days after Michel Aoun left office. In a second circular of voting on Thursday, January 9, 99 of the 128 members of parliament voted for the leader of the Lebanese army, General Joseph Aoun. Although he shares his first and last name, he is not related to his predecessor. 12 erstwhile attempts to hold a presidential election have failed to scope the required quorum.
