It's not that bad. Pawel Adamowicz's bench, which was unveiled last weekend, is simply a terrible task in many levels. The object in honor of the erstwhile president of Gdańsk could stand without the decision of the city authorities in Spichrzów Island due to the fact that it was made for private funds in private territory.
At the outset, I would like to point out that I do not head commemorating the murdered Paul Adamowicz in public space. If anyone needs it, money and legal capacity, put up monuments, mount plates, and even benches. I realize the request to express your feelings. In specified a situation, however, care must be taken to the dignity of the task – highlighting the uniqueness of Paul Adamowicz. In the case of the bench of Paweł Adamowicz, which was unveiled on 14 January 2024, a number of fatal mistakes were made, which the erstwhile president will not bring, but only a field to further ridicule.
Paul Adamovich's bench – 3 errors
First, location. Paweł Adamowicz's bench stood on the Island of Spichrzów, specifically on its northern tip, where housing prices oscillate within PLN 25 1000 per square metre. This is the place of the most costly apartments, apartments and utility premises in the city. Snobism squared. Even worse, the place is visited by organization people and hungry for culinary experiences. The place is mostly occupied by tourists. There is simply a sound in there, in which it is hard to halt and find a minute to reflect on the life of the erstwhile president of Gdańsk.
Second, the funders. In general, there was a climate surrounding the erstwhile president where close ties with developers were alleged. During his presidency, Paweł Adamowicz held shares in Robyg, which carried out investments in Gdańsk. In 2018, RMF FM, was the first to study on the detention of 2 men who were to corrupt Paul Adamowicz. According to the station, the case was related to the acquisition by the president of respective apartments on 1 of the settlements in Gdańsk. As reported, Adamovich was to acquisition them at a low price. At the time, the president demented these reports. However, later in the election run (as it turned out later) Jarosław Wałęsa PO himself preached that in the city the "Republic of Developers" was created and it was time to end it.
Meanwhile, the founders say portal gdansk.pl are companies: Granaria improvement Gdańsk, Multibud S.A. Wojciech Ciurzyński, Zbigniew Nowak, and UBM improvement – Sebastian Vetter, Peter Obernhuber. All are liable for building the northern tip of the Spichrz Island on an area of over 2 hectares. I will remind you of the plots previously belonged to the city that acquired them as a consequence of the exchange with the Treasury.
By enabling the developers of the Spichrz Island to set the bench in my opinion, the bad image, the bad climate around Paul Adamowicz, with which he himself disagreed during the life he ran distant from, was inadvertently sealed. It is the image of the man co-responsible for creating the "Republic of Developers".

Third, performance. The author of St. Paul Adamowicz is Andrzej Renes. He was celebrated for the projects of awards presented annually, including: Viktora – awards for tv personalities, Kissiel Weekly Wprost Awards, Champions – awards for the top 10 athletes of the year.
He could have stayed with those small statues. Paweł Adamowicz's bench shows the president of Gdansk as a small, thin man. Meanwhile, the president was “a part of peasant”. He would find himself on the volleyball squad or basketball team. Moreover, the head carved by Andrew Renes resembles the surviving Adam Bodnar alternatively than Paul Adamovich.
Moreover, there was a mistake in the funders' board. Paweł Adamowicz was born in 1965, not as engraved in 1955.
What does the law say?
Finally, a curious fact. The bench stood in private. What does that mean? It did not gotta get approval to set up a city council in Gdańsk. The full thing is simply a private venture. Nor should the city be liable for the object, but the founders.
