This week, the Zamość territory Attorney's Office directed an indictment against 11 citizens of Georgia, Ukraine, Belarus and Azerbaijan to the Lublin territory Court. The investigation, based on the material collected by the Nadbuzhian Border defender Branch in Sławatycze, revealed the activities of an organized crime group dealing with migrant smuggling.
Organised crime group and its illegal activities
"The proceeding active a full of 11 people, who were accused of participating in an organized criminal group operating in various locations of Poland and the territory of the Republic of Belarus. The intent of the group's activities was to organize, contrary to the regulations in force and outside the designated checkpoints, crossing the border of the Republic of Poland to migrants who did not have papers valid for crossing the border and staying in Poland. The next phase of this illegal activity was to coordinate their transport through Poland to the border with the national Republic of Germany. The criminal activity of this group covered the period from March to April 2024," the Communication states.
“The Belarusian Trail” – how did the network of smugglers work?
The group acted on the alleged ‘Belarusian trail’. Migrants were transported to the Polish-Belarusian border area, where they illegally crossed the border outside the designated crossings. They were then picked up by group members and transported by cars towards Germany, where there was besides an illegal crossing of the border.
