The premiere of Aleksander Fredro’s *Ladies and Hussars* at the Municipal Cultural Center in Żyrardów is simply a journey back to the land of childhood. It’s hard to forget Olga Lipińska’s 1973 tv adaptation or Edward Dziewoński’s 1977 phase production. Their strength lay in their stellar casts—Jan Kobuszewski played the Chaplain in the erstwhile and the Captain in the latter. This play, 1 of Fredro’s finest comedies, was popular in the People’s Republic of Poland and even in the 3rd Republic of Poland.
