April Pope's visit to Equatorial Guinea

The Government of Equatorial Guinea denied the accusations
the deduction from the salaries of public officials
to finance Pope Leon XIV's visit scheduled for April.

On April 27, the government of Equatorial Guinea denied deductions from the salaries of government officials
in connection with Pope Leon XIV's visit planned
April 21-23. The acquisition of costumes with the image of the Pope, imposed on students and state officials, and the deduction of various amounts from wage caused outrage among those affected by this act.

"This does not full reflect the state of preparation
to the historical visit of His Holiness the Pope
Leona XIV" – says the government statement. Authorities
in Malabo, they stress that “the residents actively participate in the preparation, with enthusiasm
and deep emotion taking on the approaching
the arrival of His Holiness in an atmosphere of respect, unity, hope and peaceful coexistence."
