Fr Jerzy Popieluszko liked flowers very much. Almost a 1000 people arrived for his birthday in April 1984, and the flowers he received filled the full room. This tradition is referred to by the organizers of the “flowers for Fr Jerzy”. On the anniversary of his names on 23 April, the erstwhile co-workers of priest Popiełuszko, artists, authors of books, including: Halina Łabonarska, Adam Woronowicz, manager of Rafał Wieczyński, Dr. Ewa Czaczkowska, or Dr. Milena Kindziuk, encourage to bring flowers to the grave of chaplain Solidarity. All those who want to express their gratitude to Father Popiełuszko are invited to Mass at 6:00 p.m. to St Stanislaw Kostka Church in Warsaw. After the mass, at 7:00 p.m., a gathering will be held at the Parish home of Amicus during which participants of the priest's names will take the level Popiełuszy z 1984 and representatives of associated environments, including parishes in which he served.
The participants of the gathering will be encouraged to compose words of thanks to Blessed Jerzy Popiełuszko from which the “Book of gratitude” will be created. You can besides send thanks via the website www.40years old.Popieluszko.net.pl
