The military qualification process has become the subject of many stories and myths over the years, taking place regularly in Poland all year, covering all persons who are legally obliged to participate. In 2024, the process will evidence more people than in the erstwhile year, which is simply a notable achievement. At the same time, the Ministry of Defence will introduce a surprise for women, adding an additional component of the intrigue.
Military qualification is surely a key event in the national defence calendar, and its tradition goes far back. Over the years, this process has gained publicity and has generated many emotions and speculations. Each year, it involves a wide scope of citizens who are subject to the work to appear, and in 2024 the number of people called to participate is record-high.
The Ministry of Defence, in the context of the upcoming qualification for 2024, prepared a surprise that concerns women. This event is part of changing and adapting the qualification procedure to contemporary needs and expectations of society. Expanding the scope of qualified persons and introducing fresh elements, specified as surprises, can affect the way the public perceives military qualifications and its importance in the context of national defence.
The military qualification process in Poland is traditionally launched in the first half of the year. However, already in the last months of the erstwhile year, people who will be appointed will be given appropriate information letters. The first letters reaching more than 230 1000 reservists are planned to be sent soon. The military qualification for 2024 has already been carefully planned by the Ministry of Defence and will begin from 1 February to 30 April 2024.
The military qualification process is an crucial step in the country's defence preparation. This is simply a procedure that allows to find the physical and intellectual capacity of persons to carry out military service. The information letters sent are the first contact with persons classified in this process, providing them with applicable information and a timetable for action.
Military qualification in 2024 – who has to come to the committee meeting?
The military qualification process in 2024 includes various groups of individuals, and calls for participation will be sent to 19-year-olds, those born in 2005. However, there are respective another situations where the Commission may besides call for qualifications:
- Men born between 2000 and 2004 who do not yet have an assigned military category: The Commission may call on this group to find their capabilities for military service.
- Women born in 1997-2005 who are qualified for military service: This means that women who meet the requirements of physical and intellectual ability may besides be called on to qualify for military qualifications.
- Persons who, in the years 2022 and 2023, have been temporarily declared unfit for service due to their wellness condition, provided that their incapacity expires before the completion of the qualification process: They will gotta go through the qualification process to find whether they now meet the requirements for military service.
- Persons who are 18 years old and have volunteered for military qualifications (but only until the end of the calendar year in which they turn 60) if they do not yet have an assigned category of capability for active military service: This group of people volunteered and will be subjected to the qualification process to find their military capacity.
Military Commission 2024 — Categories
The military commission 2024 assigns categories to find the physical and intellectual capacity of persons for military service. Here are the explanations for these categories:
- Category A — Capable of active military service:
Persons receiving category A shall be considered capable of carrying out active military service. This means that they are physically and mentally prepared to execute military duties. - Category B — Temporaryly unfit for active military service (for a period of 12 or 24 months):
Persons receiving category B shall be considered temporarily unfit for active military service for a specified period of 12 or 24 months. This may consequence from certain wellness conditions or another factors that may improve in the future. - Category D — Incapable of active military service in peacetime:
Persons classified in category D shall be considered unfit for active military service during the period of peace. They may be persons who do not meet the minimum wellness or intellectual requirements. - Category E — Permanently and completely unfit for active military service during peacetime and during the announcement of mobilization during war:
Persons assigned to category E are permanently and completely incapable of military service both during the period of peace and during the announcement of mobilization during the war. This usually includes people with serious, irreversible wellness or intellectual deficits.
