"Dear Mr. lawyer General, Dear State Prosecutor, Dear Professor, Dear Guests. Friends and colleagues!
I feel honored, I appreciate the importance and symbolism of the award received. Thank you very much for the medal, the laudation that touched my hard prosecutorial heart and your participation in this celebration.
One distinguished guest could not be invited to the celebration today, as Mr. Prosecutor Alexander Herzog said good-bye on January 15 at the Krakow cemetery. This aula (though aul) of the National Prosecutor's Office should bear the name Alexander Herzog. Olek was individual very peculiar in the past of the D.A.
We can't forget him. Based on His biography, the unbreakable attitude of lawyer Stefan Sněžko and another protagonists of Prosecutorial Solidarity can build the ethos of the prosecutor.
I feel a small unusual performing in this hall, in its central place. Usually, along with my defenders, I take up a place for the guilty. I simply state the fact, and I have no another hidden intentions. My disciplinary business should be done by procedure. I want to prove before the Disciplinary Court that the years 2016-2023 were in the D.A.'s office a time of shoes, lawlessness and greed. And my public criticism of this state of affairs, especially in the context of the statements of erstwhile general and national prosecutors, was balanced, restrained and even shy.
I have received the medal “Deserved for the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Poland” and I dedicate – of course – to colleagues from the Association of Prosecutors Lex Super Omnia. Together we fought for ideals, together we suffered harassment, supported each another in work and public activity. We should all enjoy this medal together. I peculiarly thank those of you who have now taken up crucial functions in the prosecutor's office to put our ideals into practice and build a prosecutor's office worthy of democratic Poland.
I thank the authorities, my mentors, the people I worked with together, my comrades and my comrades in arms.
Professor Adam Bodnar and Doctor Hanna Machinska for creating an oasis at the Office of the Ombudsman, in which citizens and lawyers who wanted democracy and freedom were gaining strength. There I had the honour to meet prof. Ewa Łętowska and Professors Mirosław Wyrzykowski and Andrzej Rzeplinski and to establish a dialog with the Authors about the prosecution.Mr. president of the Criminal Chamber of the ultimate Court, justice of the ultimate Court Stanisław Zabłocki, thank you for the cyclical, interesting (sometimes exclusive, erstwhile the another parties failed) lectures on criminal law given in the courtrooms of the ultimate Court.
Mr. lawyer Stefan Sněžko for his example of unbreakable attitude and for his discussion of February 2016 on the draft Law on Public Prosecutor's Office. After that conversation, I knew we had no choice. It is time for another generation of independent prosecutors to take the most crucial exam in life. Ms Małgorzata Kievowska – Rosłońska thank you for creating a civic initiative "Free Prosecutor's Office" and continuous, reliable support of the Association of Prosecutors Lex Super Omnia. Here, too, in the courtroom of the Disciplinary Court, where we jointly won the right to a public hearing. Mrs. Margaret, I ask you to express your respect and gratitude to your colleagues. You defended the Constitution on the streets of Warsaw for 8 years, protested the lies of past on the streets of Hajnówka, defended human life in forests and in the marshes of the Białowieża Forest.
I thank my defenders, defenders and attorneys of both sexes (executing the profession of lawyer of justice and prosecutor) for supporting the suspect and at the same time defending common values before courts. To the associations of judges of Iustitia, Themis, non-governmental organizations forming the Justice Defence Committee, thank you for everything. Without your support, without solidarity, we would not have survived these 7 years of harassment and openly demonstrated, by prosecutors, contempt.
Mace, son, thank you for being here. You had a D.A. at home, and yet we persisted. Tell Mom and your small brother I wouldn't be standing here without you tonight.
I'm sorry I didn't name everyone I feel grateful to.
I would now like to address a fewer sentences to young lawyers who have taken up service in the D.A. and received an Asesorian or prosecutorial nomination today. The D.A.'s profession is beautiful, but hard and full of conflicting legal expertise. Here, the hierarchy fights with independence. As a organization to the trial, we must be impartial. The multiplicity of tasks weakens the essential sensitivity, and the ideals of law schools, sometimes violently collide with the practice of the handiwork. You will inactive deficiency time to meet all your requirements.
On your professional path, I would set up 3 signposts that might aid you overcome it. Find the right balance between work and private life. You'll avoid quite a few stress. This will make you better people and prosecutors. Don't be indifferent to the D.A.'s cases. The D.A. is made up of prosecutors. Change it to a better, friendly, misdemeanor crime. Make proposals, comments on the projects that will shortly emerge. Run for local authorities, compete in competitions – erstwhile they are born. Do not be offended by first failures. A drop digs a rock. Indifference kills – besides the prosecution.
And remember always!“
