Mass immigration is an increasingly serious problem for the United Kingdom. According to data from the UK Statistical Office ONS, around 1.1 million migrants arrived in the UK in 2022. Legal immigration besides entails this illegal immigration. Since the beginning of the year, 38 000 illegal immigrants from Muslim countries have been sent through the La Manche Canal to WB. That's over 10,000 more than last year and as many as 30,000 more than 2 years ago.

By statements by staff of the Ministry of Interior and border guards, 38 000 asylum seekers landed in Britain via the La Manche Canal, and 28 000 attempts to cross the border were thwarted by the French authorities.

They come mainly from the mediate East, precisely: 12.7% from Afghanistan, 7.6% from Iraq, 7.6% from Syria, but over 1/4 are citizens of Albania, a non-war country. Commander of the “Clandestine Channel Threat” Dan O’Mahoney revealed that out of the 38,000 people who arrived by tiny boats on the British coast that year, 12,000 are citizens of Albania, of which 10,000 are lonely adult men. The London government is increasingly struggling to relocate specified a large number of visitors. Already there are no places for migrants to stay, and military bases are being processed for temporary “hot spots”.

Many of those who had reached Britain have passed through countries clearly safe and not in danger. The reason why immigrants are so eager to come to the United Kingdom is due to a very liberal policy for granting benefits and granting asylum. The asylum seeker can number on a free flat and a benefit of £40.85 per week (www.gov.uk). According to the British Ministry of abroad Affairs, British taxpayers spend £2.5 billion a year (about PLN 14 billion) to support migrants.

Addressing the problem only on paper

In order to tackle illegal immigration, which has been expanding steadily for 2 years, the British government passed a bill on citizenship and borders. Under the fresh law, smugglers may even face a life sentence, and those who arrive illegally will face punishment for up to 4 years in prison and deportation to a safe country. To this end, the United Kingdom has reached an agreement with Rwanda and is conducting current akin negotiations with Paraguay, Peru and Belize to return asylum seekers. In these countries, centres are to be established, to which young, single men will mostly be sent. For the implementation of the program, the UK transferred £120 million to Rwanda, and the task is yet expected to cost the British government as much as £1.4 billion.

The bill seems to solve the problem, but it only functions in theory. Since the entry into force of the Act, 29 000 people have arrived in the country, but only 96 of them have been detained, and fewer, only 56 have been sentenced. This figure represents 0.3% of those who have crossed the border since the change of law. Due to the intervention of the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, no migrants were sent to Rwanda.

British mostly critical of migration policy

According to a survey conducted by the People Polling Center for GB station, 58% of the British believe that their government lost control of the country's borders, with this message only 14% disagreed.

In turn, 49% of those asked believe that immigrants who come to Britain from safe countries should not have the right to reside in the UK, the other is 24%. On the another hand, as regards Albanians, who account for the highest percent of illegal immigrants, 61% believe that they should be deported back to their country.

Like in another European countries (read. President Macron: “half the crimes in Paris are committed by foreigners”) migration from the mediate East and Africa has an increased hazard of crime. It is hard to find an accurate dish of nationality correlation and crimes committed in the UK, as the authorities there do not keep specified censuses, but can be inferred by comparing the number of crimes in regions where the majority are Muslims, to those where the native British mostly live.
