Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán caused controversy, declaring that Ukraine is “not an opponent but an enemy” of his country. According to the head of the Hungarian government, Kiev is acting against Hungary's ‘elementary national interests’, seeking to cut off Budapest from Russian energy supplies in Brussels. In response, U.S. Senator Thom Tillis called the Hungarian Prime Minister "Putin's mascot".
