Anyone can join this mission. Just 1 motion that can save lives. The Polish-wide run “In combat and blood request without sparing” organized by territorial defence troops and the Veteran Centre was launched. The run not only promotes honorary blood donation, but besides reminds us that the service of a soldier besides continues outside the battlefield.
Territorials and mission veterans together on the first line of life struggle. They donate blood as part of the run “In combat and in request of blood without sparing”, encouraging to aid those in need. The service doesn't end where the shots are silent. It besides manifests itself in our regular choices, attitude and readiness to help. Honorable blood donation present is 1 of the cleanest manifestations of this ministry. In this run we want to show that each of us can be a soldier of good – in combat and in request – emphasizes Chor. Robert Kowalewski, Chief HDK Coordinator in Territorial Defence Forces.
The task is implemented in cooperation with the National Blood Center, The Legion of Honor Blood Donors Association and Polish Red Cross. The aim of the task is both to advance honorary blood donation and to disseminate cognition about abroad mission veterans.
Service that is ongoing
The pre-vacation period for years has been 1 of the hardest for all blood banks in Poland. Blood request is expanding and the number of donors – with the beginning of the vacation period – is clearly decreasing. It is at this point that mobilisation is peculiarly needed. Hence a peculiar nationwide run co-organised by the military. Veterans play a peculiar function here. Experienced in the realities of missions and conflicts in Iraq, Afghanistan or the Balkans present are one more time an example of work and readiness to act," stressed the organizers.
The run is aimed at all – both military and civilian. Blood can be donated during collections at the points of the Military Center for Blood and Blood and at regional blood and blood centres with the slogan of the run "In combat and in need". The nearest chance on Thursday – in Poznań or Saturday – in Warsaw.
During blood donation, meetings with veterans and military equipment shows are organized.

Faces of silent heroism
An integral part of the run is an exhibition dedicated to blood supply veterans. It consists of a series of boards presenting the silhouettes of soldiers who not only served abroad but besides actively engage in helping others. The images of veterans – frequently shown in half a shadow – are intended to symbolize silent, selfless heroism. Information about Polish abroad missions and the activities of territorials concerning blood donation is presented next to them. The exhibition is created in the form of a mini-exhibition prepared by the OT brigade, which can be seen during blood collections organized throughout Poland.
The run final will be held on 29 May 2026 in Krakow, during the Central Celebration of Veteran Day Activities outside the State Borders. The full exhibition, as well as the effects of the nationwide initiative, will be presented there. It can be followed on the Legion portal, where share data are updated and presented in the form of statistics.
