Kraków: performance “Music for a Moon note”

The Confucius Institute in Krakow invites everyone on Friday 20 September at 5:00 p.m. to a performance “Music for a Moon note”. The performance performed by Anna Krysztofiak will be held on the occasion of the Festival of the mediate of Autumn and the birth of the Center “Confutius Institute in Krakow”.

Artists:

  • Anna Krysztofiak – guzheng, guqin, erhu, nanguan pipe, xiao, hulusi, singing.
  • Jan Chmielowski – a word in Polish and Mandarin.

The time of the autumn full moon is an chance to celebrate the beauty of nature, as well as to cultivate interpersonal ties erstwhile sharing a “moon cookie”. It is 1 of the most beautiful festivals of the mediate Country, which people enjoy under the open sky and in a intimate atmosphere. A touching mythism related to the vacation gives him a romantic, nostalgic color. The moon remains 1 of the most bearable symbols in all Asian culture: as a liaison of those who yearn for each other, a mirror of illusion in the water reflection and a symbol of fullness as enlightenment. To cultivate the harmony of nature and man, to celebrate the value of household and social ties, as well as the nobility and utilitarianism of discipline and culture, we besides want to callback Confucius. In our performance we will celebrate the character of 1 of the top wise men of the ancient world, who was a lover of music, and especially of the 1 performed on the mirth.

In the program we will hear classical Chinese works made on conventional Chinese instruments by Anna Krysztofiak. Many of them will appeal in the title or in the content to the beauty of the moon, the autumn wind, and the nostalgia. The word developed by Jan Chmielowski in Polish and Mandarin will include thematic quotations from works of poesy and Mandarin philosophy.

Anna Krishnak is an artist of the Łódź Philharmonic Choir, a multi-instrumentalist in the field of old and oriental instruments, a haze of art history. He performs conventional music on a number of Asian instruments as well as in conventional vocal technique. She is most likely the only European to execute nanguan works in a conservative stylistics in permanent repertoire, which was appreciated by ethnomusicologists and sinologists present at the global CHIME conference in Lisbon, in 2018.

She was educated individually and at master courses, among others, at Olga Pasenik, Nicolas Parle, Mark Caudle, Mark Toporowski, Kyoko Kubota, Lin Po Chi, Abdou Ouardi, and at another teachers in Brussels, Safi, Quanzhou and Taipei. She has been practicing in organ construction at the Manufacturing d’Orgue de Bruxelles workshop Patrick Collon. For a year she served as an organist of the Polish parish at the church of Notre Dame de la Chapelle in Brussels.

Anna Krysztofiak was awarded artistic and technological scholarships, including the Taiwan Fellowship scholarship, in the Nanguan music class, a conventional music department at Taipei National University of the Arts, under prof. Lin Po Chi.

From 2015 to 2017, she was the artistic manager of the “Music in the Chinese Garden” Festival in the Royal Bathrooms in Warsaw, and this festival was her first project. Her achievements include concerts at home and abroad (Czech Republic, Belgium, Luxembourg, Taiwan, Morocco).

She is an active maker of musical and educational projects. She has implemented a number of artistic grants of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage of an educational and popularizing character. With the music of Chinese and nipponese instruments, the diplomatic visits of guests from the Far East were excellent: Duchess Hisako Takamada, president of China Xi Jinping, Minister of Defence of China Wanquan Chang, Deputy Minister of Culture of the People's Republic of China Xiang Zhaolun, and others. Since 2019 he has been working with the festival “Word and Music with Jesuits”, as a performer and artistic manager of accompanying concerts.
