Poland and the United States signed a declaration of intent to cooperate on the improvement of military space capabilities. These include the detection and tracking of missiles, satellite communications, the prevention of GPS interference and the organisation of joint exercises and training.
The gathering of Deputy Minister of Defence Cezary Tomczyk with General Chance Saltzman, the head of the US Space Operations focused on discussing Polish-American cooperation in the space domain and indicating directions for building the capabilities of the Polish Army in this area. Following talks with the US delegation, a declaration of intent was signed between the Ministry of National Defence and the United States Space Force. The agreement aims to deepen cooperation on the improvement of military space capabilities, including satellite support, building situational awareness in space or organising training.
The deputy officer of the MON stressed that military cooperation between the United States Space Force and the Ministry of National Defence includes, among others, the detection and tracking of rocket missiles, satellite communications, but besides the prevention of GPS interference and exercises and training. “Today we are able to offer quite a few each another and we have cards in our hands that aid in this”, said Cezary Tomczyk. He reminded that in late 2023 Poland did not have its own satellites. – At the end of this year We'll have 11 satellites in orbit. and that is not our last word," said the Secretary of State. The US Ambassador to Poland, present at the meeting, Thomas Rose, pointed out that the space domain is crucial for conducting activities on the modern battlefield. It is in the interests of the US and NATO as a full to increase Poland's capacity in this regard. “We can build this force together,” he said.
Gen. Chance Saltzman pointed out that in space the U.S. cannot act alone – they request competent partners. – A multi-domain fight is simply a priority. We must act in all domains to guarantee our safety," he said. He besides emphasized that in Poland there is the ability and determination to defend, but besides to act and learn quickly. He pointed out that the agreement signed present means continuing cooperation to accomplish the objectives set. We are here to support you and aid you. We are your partners in the future victory," said the head of the US Space Operations.
Brig. Gen. Marcin Górka, manager of the MON Innovation Department and MON Space Attorney, explained that on the basis of the signed document, safe satellite communications and threat prevention systems for satellite navigation and early informing of rocket threats will be developed.
