Both submarines proposed by Hanwha Ocean (KSS-III) and HD Hyundai dense Industries (HDS-2300 and KSS-III types) combine 2 features: they were developed in the Republic of Korea and are units classified as fresh generation structures. The Koreans acquired specified capabilities, consistently expanding their own submarine forces. Initially, they were simpler KSS-I submarines of the Jang Bogo kind (a licensed version of German kind 209) with a displacement of 1,400 tons, which had been produced in collaboration with the German tkMS since 1983. A full of 12 were created, including 9 for South Korea and 3 for Indonesia.
