South Korea: president of the Technology Sector

South Korean president Li Dze Mjung announced on Monday, after his first year of office, the fight for the country's "absolute competitiveness" in the field of advanced technologies. He declared that for the sake of the region he would proceed to search the denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula.

– By mobilising all resources of the government and the private sector, we will supply [South Korea]. – PAP] absolute competitiveness in the advanced technology sector – declared Li at a press conference.

He announced that a major investment task would shortly be announced, which would bring about a long-term change in the national growth strategy; details were not disclosed. At the same time, he warned that large corporations could not benefit from dynamic development. As regards his relation with North Korea, Li recalled that Pyongyang was expanding its arsenal, producing adequate material per year to build "about 10 to 15, or even 20" atomic charges. He definitely ruled out the construction of an atomic bomb by South Korea. This would draw another countries of the continent into the arms race, leading to the creation of a "nuclear powder barrel", he said. Seoul, on the another hand, will proceed to search out its own nuclear-powered submarines.
