The peculiar Measures Agreement (or SMA – ed.) is an American-Korean agreement concerning the division of the costs of the defence of the Republic of Korea by the US (including the stationing of US troops in South Korea). If there is no greater political turbulence, the latest twelfth agreement (for the years 2026-2030) should begin next year. According to a paper signed at the end of president Joe Biden's word of office, South Korea would have paid 1.52 trillion won ($1.1 billion) next year, an increase of 1.4 trillion won compared to that year," states [The Korea Herald](https://www.koreaherald.com/article/10527943).
