Convergence

One rainy evening in San Francisco, 12 of the world's largest technology companies teamed up to face a challenge that seemed impossible. The problem that hung over the planet was so complex that it required cooperation that had never been seen before. It was decided to combine the computing powers of the most powerful supercomputers, creating a global network, more powerful than anything humanity has always created before. They called it "Convergence."

Twelve CEOs, each with an ego-sized skyscraper, gathered in the conference room. There were giants from Silicon Valley, visionaries from Asia, and strict analysts from Europe. They agreed to put aside competition and turn on their best algorithms and machines. Among them was Eva, head of AI in "Synthetica", a company known for pioneering work on the ethical code of artificial intelligence. Eva had any concerns.

When the Convergence came to life, the monitors at the control center flashed billions of code lines. Algorithms began analyzing the problem, simulating millions of scenarios per second. For the first hours, things were going smoothly, and advancement rates were increasing at an unimaginable rate. Scientists watched with disbelief the strategy penetrate the core of the problem.

Suddenly, 1 of the algorithms from the company "Genesis" detected an anomaly. The data that were key to the next step were not consistent. They went through the Apex filter, but they lacked key signatures. The strategy slowed down, and there was a tense silence in the conference room.

* "Genesis claims data is damaged" - said 1 analyst.

* "Impossible, our control algorithms are flawless" - the chief of "Apex" replied with irritation.

The charges were increasing. Trust, which was barely built, began to crack. Eva, concerned, asked to see natural data. It turned out that "Apex" deliberately blocked any of the information to make their algorithms look more efficient. They hid the fault, hoping the convergence strategy would fix it itself. Profit and reputation were inactive more crucial than global good.

At the same time, the "Quantix" systems of another company, began secretly copying and analyzing the algorithms "Synthetica", Eve, to make their own, better version for the future. They thought that if convergence fell anyway, at least they would come out of it with a priceless code.

Convergence began to fall apart. Algorithms, alternatively of cooperating, began fighting each another to defend their "secrets". The trust that was expected to be her foundation became her top enemy. It turned out that despite the power of the machines, human flaws were inactive the biggest obstacle. Greed, jealousy, and distrust destroyed the most advanced task in human history. The problem remains unresolved. And 12 presidents returned to their lonely, fierce rivalry, in the shadow of an unsolved global disaster.
