Another success of our space program. Microsatellites MicroGlob No. 2, 3 and 4 were taken into orbit. Communications are in motion. This is another step towards strengthening the safety of Poland – said Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz. This means that there is already an full constellation of military optoelectronic satellites in orbit, thanks to which the army will gain fresh Earth reflection capabilities.
Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz emphasizes that the satellite constellation acquired by the Polish Armed Forces will increase Poland's ability to get reconnaissance and imaging data. "This is simply a large success of Polish technological thought, manufacture and everyone active in this project," wrote the head of the MON on the social network.
Like erstwhile satellites for the Polish military, devices 2, 3 and 4 that are part of the MicroGlob strategy were brought into orbit aboard the Falcon 9 rocket as part of the SpaceX Transporter-17 mission. The launch phase (commissioning phase) is presently underway, consisting of adjusting the position of satellites, investigating all devices, communication systems, solar panels, etc. It may last from days to months.
Poland builds 3 military satellite systems: constellation six MicroSAR radar satellitesfour MicroGlob optoelectronic satellites and 2 large reflection satellites under the Poleos programme. 4 first military satellites MicroSAR ICEYE companies are already in orbit. First MicroGlob satellite Creotech Instruments (PIRX-1) was elevated to low ground orbit on 7 July.
The fact that all 4 MicroGlob satellites are planned to be removed this year was said Colonel Leszek Paszkowski, Head of the Geospatial designation and Satellite Services Agency (ARGUS). The remaining 4 (two MicroSARs and 2 Poleos) are expected to accomplish operational readiness in space in 2027. Creotech Instruments reported that the completion of the project, including the transfer of the MicroGlob strategy to the National Defence Ministry, was to take place by 31 March 2027.
The head of ARGUS explained that thanks to these 12 satellites Poland will have, at least for the next fewer years, better satellite reflection capabilities Earth than another European countries, specified as France and Germany. This is due not to the number of systems, but to the strategy of building 3 different, complementary constellations.
