Koniuszewski: Turkey

It seemed that after the failure of imperial status, but after the rescue of Anatolia with adjacentities, Turkey would lead the life of a medium-sized state, which in the world, and especially in Europe, is so much. It seemed so. However, we do not know whether due to their geopolitical position, the preservation of the population's potential, or the outstanding figure of Atatürk.

Turkey is again in proverbial languages and it is not only about fashion, but about its real successes. I say all these circumstances coincided at the same time in time and space, which caused the Turkish revival of their country and most likely besides the nation? But let's not get lost in conjecture, in the dispersal of these complex interlacings, and let's look at Turkey, what in fact she was already carrying on her shoulders. This can be referred to the period of its history, from the acquisition of Constantinople by the Osmans in 1453 to the fall of this dynasty. possibly even closer to the time erstwhile the Balkan nations began a war for a strategy after the power of this family. Undoubtedly, Turkey had a prestigious form for 5 centuries, and the summit of its power is simply a time from the conquest of Constantinople until the defeat of Vienna in 1683. 2 100 years, then! That's a long time! But how can we classify this Muslim sultanate and then the Caliphate?

Was it a continuation of the east Empire? Is there any entirely fresh empire that just happened, to a large degree territorially, to coincide with it? I think the answer will be the right one. From the civilizational point of view, then Turkey was something circumstantial and unique. A mixture of Turkish, co-existence with Islam. However, erstwhile we look at the substance from a geopolitical position – this power is the continuation of the east Roman statehood.

But what does this mean, especially for the assessment of the contemporary situation and conditions of history? There should be only 1 thing to say: in this place, due to the location, there should be a large centre of force, or a power with extended influence on the environment. So, the Mediterranean, the Black Sea, the Balkans and the mediate East. Of course, Turkey's past did not gotta go as it did. Turkey could have fallen completely, its area – in part – and torn and absorbed by others. However, taking care of geopolitical balance required that this country – in a limited form – be preserved. What happened.

Since the Empire did not fall, keeping its existence in the Turkish national area, it was only a substance of time before it was revived, or at least a strong striving to accomplish this goal. And all these circumstances have occurred in our time. Turkey so returns to the proverbial game. The fact that she has survived the most hard moments for herself, that her army has become a carrier of modernisation and the preservation of the Turkish state's national character, are of course very crucial matters. Political determinism is most crucial here. The issue of geopolitical position is besides more crucial here. The issue of political leadership is little interesting. So that means that without Erdogan the destiny of Turkey would be akin to that of Turkey!?
