New IDs will be more costly in production. So much money will be spent
As we can read in papers published on 19 January 2026 on the website legislacja.gov.pl, fresh ID cards will increase in production by about PLN 1.2, and the costs of implementing changes will be borne by the Social Insurance Institution. According to estimates, in the first year the expenditure associated with them will increase by PLN 332,000, while in the second year it will increase by PLN 450 thousand. Over the next 10 years, this gives a full of PLN 4.6 million. However, the Communication points out that the proposal for change meets social expectations. In contrast, the introduction of the fresh model is primarily a better safeguard of the interests of the recipients, and, consequently, of the state budget, which could be exposed to expenditure associated with the unauthorised usage of discounts (e.g. on urban communications).
