From 1 February, the Tatra National Park introduces a ban on walking on trails at night – from 22 to 5 p.m. The provision will apply all year from 1 December until the end of February.
In combination with the current regulations, this means that night hikes in the Tatras are banned throughout the year, and amateurs popular in social media expeditions to the east and sunsets on the peaks must deal with taste.
According to TPN, fresh rules are intended to defend wildlife and improve tourist safety. The night is the time of the top activity of many species, including wolves, lynxes or bears, and the presence of people disturbs their natural rhythms. Tourist traffic monitoring has shown that even a fewer night entrances have a peculiarly negative effect on animals.
In addition, night trips, especially during the winter period, affect an increased hazard of accidents and more hard rescue operations.
