Plans presume the acquisition of 46 Leopard 2A8 tanks with an option for 6 extra cars. So we're talking about forming a battalion that would complete or replace the presently operated company of 18 Leopard 2A6A3 tanks operating within the joint German-Dutch 414th Tank Battalion. Let us remind you that in the past, the Dutch land troops had a fleet of 445 Leopard 2A4 tanks. As of 1993, 330 of them were upgraded to Leopard 2A5, and then 188 were raised to Leopard 2A6.
