End of 800+ and seniors? I'll think about it. "All taxpayers would benefit"

The Sejm received a petition that could completely change the financial support strategy in Poland. Its author proposes, among others, the elimination of individual income tax, which would make more money left in the wallets of Poles.
The "800 plus" program is simply a monthly payment for all kid who helps cover regular expenses related to education. The benefit was introduced in 2016 as "500 plus", and from 2024 its amount increased to 800 PLN per month. On the another hand, seniors can number on additional benefits in the form of alleged thirteens and fourteens, i.e. yearly pension bonuses, frequently providing real aid in the home budget. It is these forms of support, alongside individual income tax, that are at the heart of the fresh proposal considered by the Parliamentary Committee on Petitions.

Is "800 plus" gone? Petition went to the Sejm
Petition assumes the abolition of individual income taxation (PIT) in exchange for the liquidation of the 800+ programme and the 13th and 14th pensions. According to the author, liquidation would be neutral for the state budget. He calculated that the PIT taxation gross in 2024 amounted to about PLN 97.6 billion, and the full cost of the "800 plus" programme, the alleged thirteenth and fourteenth was about PLN 97 billion.


PIT gross is almost equal to the expenditure on these 3 benefits. The abolition of the PIT would be a common solution for all taxpayers, including pensioners and child-rearing workers. The taxation strategy would become simpler, clearer and fairer

The author points out respective benefits for citizens and the state: increased net income for all, regardless of the household situation, simplification of the taxation strategy (no yearly PIT accounts, reductions and complex forms), simplification of bureaucracy and administrative costs, increased transparency of public finances and strengthening financial autonomy. He emphasized that it would enable people to "decide more about spending their own resources."

13th and 14th pensions to be wound up? The author proposes something else
The amount of "Thirteen" in 2025 is PLN 1878.91 gross. The same is equal to "fourteen", but is paid in this amount only if the gross pension is little than or equal to PLN 2900. erstwhile it exceeds that amount, it is deducted according to the "gold for gold" rule. The full amount of 13th and 14th pensions thus amounts to a maximum of PLN 3769.22 gross for people with low benefits.


The 500+ household program, now '800+', did not lead to fertility growth, which was 1 of its main objectives. It is simply a de facto non-profit social programme, which contradicts the definition of social support from the state budget. The 13th and 14th pensions in practice have become a permanent addition to the budget, with a limited impact on the material improvement of part of pensioners
- writes the petitioner. In exchange for liquidation, it proposes to introduce appropriate compensation for the JST. In order to avoid failure of income, "recommends the introduction of a compensation mechanics corresponding to the lost PIT revenue, implemented by expanding the share of VAT and CIT in respective aggregate/optional options". On 24 September, the letter was addressed to the Committee on Petitions. The gathering will decide whether work will be carried out.
