W dniach 8–13 września 2025 r. na Uniwersytecie Warszawskim odbywa się 53. Międzynarodowa Konferencja Ballad Kommission für Volksdichtung pod tytułem „Songs and politics. Expressions, dynamics, consequences”.
Organizatorami wydarzenia są Studium Europy Wschodniej oraz Instytut Muzykologii Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego. Program konferencji obejmuje wystąpienia badaczy z całego świata poświęcone roli pieśni w polityce – w perspektywie historycznej i współczesnej, w kontekście ruchów narodowych, protestów, propagandy, emocji i tożsamości.
W ramach konferencji zaplanowano także wydarzenia towarzyszące, m.in. spacer śladami Fryderyka Chopina w Warszawie oraz spotkanie z muzyką tradycyjną w Ambasadzie Muzyki Tradycyjnej.
From 8 to 13 September 2025, the University of Warsaw is hosting the 53rd International Ballad Conference of the Kommission für Volksdichtung, entitled “Songs and politics. Expressions, dynamics, consequences”.
The event is organized by the Centre for East European Studies and the Institute of Musicology of the University of Warsaw. The programme features presentations by scholars from around the world on the role of songs in politics – in both historical and contemporary perspectives, with reference to national movements, protests, propaganda, emotions, and identity.
The conference also includes accompanying events, such as a tour “In Chopin’s Footsteps” in Warsaw and an evening with traditional music at the Embassy of Traditional Music.
