LEGO operates an “Ideas” website where fans can send mockups and suggestions for future LEGO sets. 1 fan designed a faithful replica Apple's iconic iMac G3 from 1998 in a semi-transparent colour Bondi Blue.
The author of the concept is the user teraumawhich created a model consisting of about 700 elements. The task includes not only the all-in-one version of the computer itself, but besides a iconic hockey disc-shaped mouse and a matching keyboard with transparent cables – just like in the first set from more than 2 decades ago.
The model uses transparent blocks to give the aesthetics of the first as best as possible, and even details like CRT cathodescope or miniature replica Main board.
Since its launch on May 17, the proposal has gathered almost 6,000 votes. If LEGO iMac G3 gets 10,000 “supporting” votes on the LEGO ideas website, LEGO will examine it and consider putting it in the authoritative set.
It is unclear whether Apple will approve specified a set and whether it will pass the LEGO verification process. LEGO assesses notifications on the basis of existing products, products already in development, matching with the brand, expected demand, licensing opportunities, performance quality and another factors.
The notification is simply a continuation of another LEGO concepts related to Apple, including last year's Apple store project, which successfully passed the verification process. If you are curious in LEGO, consider giving your vote to them!
