They'll have their hands full. The legislature adopted an amendment of the Act on pensions, which will change the rules of work for thousands of Poles. This includes the implementation of EU standards on equal treatment in employment.

Senators voted to amend the law on bailiffs. The fresh government shifts the pension age from 65 to 70 for this professional group. 56 Senators voted in favour of the project, 29 were "against" and no 1 abstained.

The bailiffs will work longer.

Although Senator Marek Komorowski of Law and Justice applied for complete rejection of the project, he did not get a majority. Now the bill goes to the president. Let us add that the author of these changes is the Ministry of Justice, whose representatives explain that "current regulations discriminate against bailiffs compared to another legal professions, where retirement age is 70".

– From 2019 to 2021, the Minister of Justice dismissed 21 bailiffs on this basis, due to the age of 65. any of the bailiffs challenged these decisions to the administrative courts, 10 specified decisions were contested – said Tomasz Kozłowski during the Tuesday legislature gathering of the Committee on Human Rights and Lawfulness.

– The consequence of repealing these decisions is compensation claims made to the State Treasury by appealed bailiffs. At the moment, these claims amount to PLN 14 million. no of them have yet to be duly judged, they are at various stages of trial by courts, but we anticipate specified damages to be granted – Kozłowski informed the legislature committee.

However, it is worth noting that the amendment does not force the bailiffs to stay in the profession these additional 5 years. They'll inactive be able to quit early. Earlier, the Law and Justice consistently opposed these laws.

– We do not agree that the ministry of justice should start the changes in this area with the Polish State giving gold parachutes to people who have made powerful millions in the performance of the bailiff's competition, frequently without education – said Sebastian Kaleta, erstwhile deputy chief of MS in the Sejm.

Changes in the regulations besides apply to repo asesura. The amendment endures the current maximum six-year duration, thus "assessors will be able to gain experience without time pressure".
