The decreasing level of trust in the United States of America has been a common phenomenon for all Western states since the beginning of Donald Trump's presidency. According to various studies, we are talking about an average 20% drop. However, in a country specified as Poland, where the pro-American moods have always been overwhelming, the reversal of conventional sympathy seemed yet to be completely impossible. However, according to the latest investigation of the IBRiS studio (February 2026), as many as 54.1% of Poles believe that under Trump the USA cannot be trusted. In SW Research, 53.2% of respondents expressed a deficiency of assurance in the US.
These results besides translate into an overall decrease in sympathy for the US, according to CBOS in the February 2026 survey only 47% Poles expressed sympathy for Americans, while the year before that it was 58% (and in 2024 – 65%). That's the problem. In times of communism, Poles identified the USA with a land of happiness, where freedom reigned, and anyone could make a profit. In the 1990s, there was a widespread aspiration of American mass culture, products and kind of being. Everything American seemed great, and the principles of democracy and the regulation of law were a model for an aspiring society and a developing economy. Among today's youth, there's no trace of this painting.
