Chapter I. The roots of the family, the house, the memories of the father
Welcome all Readers. We are in Markowa, where Blessed Joseph Ulma was born and raised. The current host of this home is his nephew – Jerzy Ulma. I hope that thanks to the Lord we will be able to learn more about the household history, a small "from the kitchen".
I invitation all Readers to a gathering with my family, from which the fresh blessed come from – the first in the past of the Roman Catholic Church entirely elevated to altars, and among them my unborn cousin or cousin, a unique hero reminding of the dignity of all conceived child.
It is said that the most interesting books are those that compose life, and this 1 surely belongs to such. But writing it is besides not easy, due to the fact that it is hard to briefly tell the destiny of someone, let alone a fewer generations. Let's effort it anyway!
Uncle Joseph, as a student of the school in Plzen, wrote in his book the thought I would like to mention at the outset, as in retrospect it shows his way of seeing the world, and thus functioning and valuing. He wrote: From “Oda to Youth”, where young people are to decision [...], a lump of the planet on fresh tracks. An interesting memorabilia is the books of Uncle from Pilzna School or sketches of his works. They are filled with extraordinary systematicity, industriousness, simplicity, tact, and hardness on the ground. We see in them not only the extraordinary cognition gained with passion by young Joseph, but besides the concern for school next day due to the moving out of money that guaranteed a stay at the state and thus provided opportunities for school education.
The drawings from the plan of the home stay touching to this day, in fact 1 could say "house of dreams", due to the fact that I think it can be called that. It's about a home plan in Wojsławice close Sokal. It was there, in the east, Uncle and Auntie bought land before the war, where they planned to decision and build a fresh apartment. The war has thwarted these plans. There was already organized material for the construction – quite a few wood that Joseph planned to carry from Markowa. The brother-in-law of Uncle Michael Kluz made 4 coffins of these boards in 1944, in which the Ulms rested until 2023, the day of the exhumation.
Joseph made concrete preparations to build a fresh home not only for material. He asked the architect to draw the design, marking all the details specified as furniture, stools, closets, children's corner, a beautiful kitchen for his wife. Uncle had a vision, a intent that paved the way for his work. He thought of everyone very real. He was a real husband and a good father.
The most touching component of the fresh home is the cradle design. This drawing is besides a thought of deep and liable parenting. I'm not hiding that to this day this sketch for me personally is 1 of the most touching household documents. Aunt Victoria was blessed.
