In the context of the course of the Kiev campaign, as well as the full war, the seizure of Kiev within a fewer days seems like an act of madness and unreasoned action. The failure of the operation is now attributed to respective major factors: valuable intelligence information about the aggressor, his forces and intentions, the underestimation of the will to fight of the Ukrainian army, and more broadly Ukrainian society, misleading/outdated Russian intelligence, mostly deviating from reality, the incompetence of the Russian peculiar services, effective counter-diversionary actions in the capital, the steadfast attitude of the president and authorities of the country, etc.
