Marcin Kierwiński called on Friday 2 October Sławomir Mentzen to apologize to the police after his mocking recording. The dispute concerns the recruitment of 150 people to the Lower Silesian Police, including 65 women. The minister is right in 1 thing: uniform and regular service deserve respect, regardless of organization colors.

Minister wants to apologize

The head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration Marcin Kierwiński referred on Friday to the recording of the leader of the Confederation. He said Sławomir Mentzen should go out and apologize to police officers, Border Guards and State Protection Service. He emphasized that women serving everyday take to the streets of Polish cities and do good work.

Kierwiński previously wrote in social media that police officers, unlike Mentzen, service Poland well. It was a individual and political pin. However, Friday's call to show respect for uniforms touches the heart of the matter. A sharp organization dispute does not give the right to measure the suitability of officers based on respective photographs.

The majority were men in the recruitment

Mentzen's recording active fresh officers in Lower Silesia. The politician first showed pictures of women and ironically felt safer after specified a recruitment, and organized crime has origin for concern.

The full data shows a different situation. The Provincial Police office in Wrocław reportedthat 150 people were admitted to service on September 16: 65 women and 85 men. After basic training 135 of them are to go to municipal and region commands in the region. Since the beginning of 2026, the Lower Silesian garrison has accepted a full of 551 people.

That's important, due to the fact that staff selection to the police is slow and should be judged harshly. Poles have the right to ask about requirements, training, equipment and the ability of officers to act under pressure. Just seeing a female in uniform doesn't answer any of these questions. Bringing safety to the sex will convey real problems for the service.

The right shouldn't mock the uniform

Criticism of the government and management of the Ministry of abroad Affairs is needed, especially erstwhile it concerns border protection, crime or service conditions. Uniforms, however, must not become an easy prop in an online scope fight. Władysław Kosiniak-Kamish besides responded to Mentzen, recalling that the uniform deserves respect.

Donald Tusk utilized the dispute for his own sparing message, publishing a photograph of the police officers signing "Pride". His reaction does not replace the conversation about the state of the police, but shows how easy awkward the message of opposition policy gives fuel to the government camp.

One minister's well-being or the popularity of 1 movie is not at stake. It is about the safety of Poles and trust in people who are expected to enforce the law. The State should require each officer of competence, efficiency and resilience. Politicians should account for these standards on the basis of facts. The mockery from the photograph is not control of power. She's a gift to her propaganda.
