On Saturday, October 3, Marcin Kierwiński supported the challenge of erstwhile police officer Sławomir Mentzen to take the fitness test. The dispute sparked Mentzen's recording mocking women's recruitment to the Lower Silesian police. More than 22.6 1000 female officers service in the formation, and the political conflict pushes the point: advanced standards and efficiency of service.

Kierzinski answers in Gdańsk

On Saturday the head of the Ministry of abroad Affairs Marcin Kierwiński was asked in Gdańsk about the challenge posed to Sławomir Mentzen by a erstwhile police officer. The officer offered to the politician to participate in fitness tests. The minister picked up the thought and said, "I have my fingers crossed for Mr Mentzen's courage."

Kiewiński called the recording of Confederate politics "very stupid" and "very unreasonable". He besides recalled that women service in police, State Fire Service, Border Guard, State safety Service and the Army. Previously, the head of the Ministry of abroad Affairs called on Mentzen to apologize. So Saturday's speech is the next phase of the same political exchange.

The video that lit the dispute

Mentzen posted on Wednesday on page X a movie utilizing photos of women admitted to the Lower Silesian police force. Ironically, he suggested that specified recruitment would not increase safety and would not change the situation of criminal groups. So he assessed the usefulness of fresh officers on the basis of photographs, without checking their preparation, test results or later service.

Government politicians rapidly joined the dispute. Donald Tusk answered Mentzen with 1 word, and Kierwiński moved the discussion to the level of individual duel. This is convenient for both parties, due to the fact that short movie and cut riposta work well on social media. They service even worse the serious talk about the safety of Poles.

Requirements are important, not sex

According to data from the Police office cited by PAP in early 2026, over 40,5 1000 women worked in the police force, including over 22.6 1000 female officers. They accounted for over 20% of all police officers. From January to November 2025, women were liable for 39 percent of the candidates for service.

However, figures alone do not solve the most crucial issue. The State is required to require officers to meet real tasks: intervention, pursuit, protection of citizens and action under pressure. Anyone admitted to the service should meet clear standards and be judged for fitness, discipline and results. sex must not replace competence, but it must not be the basis for man’s rejection even before the start of service.

Security is not an online contest

Mentzen had the right to ask if recruitment to the police truly strengthened the formation. However, he chose a form that shone the case into the appearance of women in the pictures. Kierwiński responded with remarks about alleged complexes and building a macho image. The Minister liable for safety should show the standards of recruitment, training results and efficiency of the service, alternatively of adding fuel to the individual disturbance.

Mentzen or Kierwinski's triumph in social media is not at stake. At stake are police able to defend Polish families, streets and borders. Poles are entitled to anticipate tough requirements for each officer and a fair assessment based on service, not on sex, photography or organization sympathy.
