A unique artistic installation was created in the centre of Kielce. Before the cathedral in the Square of the Blessed Virgin Mary was unveiled "The Sky of Kielce". It's a two-by-two-meter mirror built into the sidewalk. The full cost of the task was PLN 86.8 thousand. But not everyone liked the idea, but the work of his creator. In an interview with Polsat News, he emphasizes that "his work connects the city".

On Saturday, an artistic installation by Marek Cecuła was unveiled in the Square of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Kielce. "The Sky of Kielce". This is mirror panel integrated into space in front of the cathedral, it is intended to symbolically "bring the sky closer to the ground" and encourage residents to interact with art.

The author of the installation in an interview with Polsat News pointed out that it was located close the cathedral basilica of the presumption of the NMP. The space around this mirror is sacrum, it's a spiritual place. This is simply a peculiar place and this work is connected to this peculiar space. - said Marek Cecuła.

- I'm sorry. This mirror represents the sky on earth. It shows his reflection. This is simply a very simple, minimalist work, which although not three-dimensional, it is very active, due to the fact that in this mirror you can inactive see the changing nature - he explained.

- I'm sorry. People will be able to sit around and contemplate, Look at the sky on the ground, under your feet, not rubbing your head up. This work connects the city, this circumstantial space, with people - he added.

The task was besides criticised by politicians. "How much can a mirror cost? In Kielce - more than common sense: 86 800 PLN. In the city account: PLN 1.27 billion of debt. Planned consolidation loan: PLN 397 million. Meanwhile, in the heart of Kielce, a mirror was created in the pavement - the installation of 'The Sky of Kielce' for almost 90 thousand. The city authorities explain that the installation was financed from the Polish Sculpture Centre in Oronian "A sculpture in public space for the Independent - 2025" program from the budget of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. The full cost of the task was 86.8 1000 PLNOf which 77,8 1000 were co-financing.

Director of the Polish Sculpture Centre in Orońsk Paulina Kurc-Maj noted that the work of Marek Cecula was created within the framework of a programme promoting contemporary art in public space.

As she recalled, between 2021 and 2025 it was implemented 135 sculptures in more than 40 localities in PolandAnd this year there will be 37 fresh works. She pointed out that "The Sky of Kielce" is an example of a successful combination of tradition and modernity.

Marek Cecuła is simply a prof. at the Royal College of Art in London and the National College of Art and plan in Bergen. As an artist and ceramic designer, he gained designation in the world, and his works are included in collections specified as the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, the Museum of Arts and plan in fresh York City and the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston.

The artist has besides been active in Poland for years - in Ćmielów he founded the studio Modus Design, and in 2013 he co-founded the Ćmielów plan Studio, combining porcelain tradition with modern design.
