Two Russian cosmonauts and an American astronaut returned on Sunday from the global Space Station (ISS) to Earth on board the Soyuz MS-28 spacecraft - reported Russian space agency Roskosmos, quoted by Reuter's agency. They have been in orbit since the end of November 2025.
The ship landed at 13:27 Moscow time (12:27 in Warsaw) close the town of Żyzkazgan in Kazakhstan.
The crew of Sojuza MS-28 consists of a Russian Sergei Kud-Swierczkov, who for the second time flew into space and was the mission commander, as well as his compatriot Sergei Mikayev and an American from NASA Christopher Williams, for whom it was the first voyage into space.
On July 14, a rocket with the ship Soyuz MS-29 launched from the Baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. 3 astronauts, 2 Russians and an American, arrived on board the ISS as another change in the space station. The MS-29 crew will spend 8 months in space.
ISS was created as a consequence of a merger of projects to build Russian Mir-2 station, American Freedom and European Columbus. The first crew arrived on November 2, 2000, and included William Shepherd of the United States and Russians Yuri Gidzenko and Sergei Krikalov. Japan, Canada and the associate States of the European Space Agency besides participate in the ISS task alongside Russia and the United States.
