Kaszubia for the local community

Today, a letter of intent was signed in Gdynia beginning the pilot cooperation of the Ministry of Defence with local sports clubs and fans' environments. The initiative is intended to advance social dialog around the strategical task "Green Industrial territory – Kaszubia", combining athletics with safety awareness building and strengthening the defence possible of the state.

The strategical task "Green Industrial territory – Kaszubia" is not only large investment, industrial infrastructure and defence capacity building of a country based on concrete reinforcement programmes. It is besides a collaboration with the local community, among others, through the activities of sports clubs and cheering organizations. The Ministry of Defence launched present a pilot program with the football club Ark Gdynia and the basketball club AMW Ark Gdynia as part of the task “Kashubia”, signing a letter of intent on this matter. Joint action aims to make recommendations and standards for social activities combining strategical defence, infrastructure and industrial investment with social dialog and the usage of athletics as an component of the region's social capital.

“The Green Industrial territory – Kaszubia” as a strategical task was planned from the very beginning to include local communities, residents of Pomerania and Kaszubia. That is why we decided to thin on the problem of developing good standards and practices for investors who will invest here," said Maciej Samsonowicz, advisor to the national defence minister, coordinator of the working group on the task "Green Industrial territory – Kaszubia". “Sport clubs, as organisations that build social identity, are a very good average of information besides in the context of planned investments, which can make different feelings among residents,” explained Samsonowicz, and added that the ministry wants investors to know that by cooperating with sports clubs, they can effectively scope local communities through them.

Kadm. prof. dr hab. Tomasz Szubrycht, Rector-Commander of the Naval Academy, pointed out that sports emotions combine residents and build love and attachment to a tiny homeland. In his opinion, athletics besides allows to scope a wide scope of communities with information about projects, economical investments and safety aspects. "Knowing the activity of the Ministry of Defence, I am convinced that further steps and implementations will follow the signing of the document," he stressed. Szubricht.
– I am very pleased that Ark Gdynia has been appreciated and noticed by MON; that our efforts to show the social and educational function of the club are not only marketing value, but besides a real offer for employees of companies that invest in the region," said Marcin Gruchała, president of the supervisory board of Ark Gdynia.

The Green Industrial Region – Kaszubia task is simply a strategical state initiative of defence importance. Its aim is to make industry, energy and critical infrastructure in Pomeranian, West Pomeranian and Kuyavian-Pomeranian provinces. The task was designed to strengthen the defence capacity of the country – it involves the integration of modern technologies into the construction of the industrial and logistical safety facilities of the state.

November 2025 Norway joined the Polish initiative. It was then announced that the Norwegian company Kongsberg is the first abroad investor active in the task "Green Industrial territory – Kaszubia". The company plans to produce mid-caliber MCT-30 turrets at Pomerania and integrate them with drone systems, as well as to build unmanned sea vehicles (USV-Seawolf).
