The flagrant request to cut electricity prices by 33 percent, pushed by president Karol Nawrocki, proved highly costly for the state budget. Although the promise is politically and socially attractive, its implementation in the form of a simplification in the VAT rate on electricity from 23 to 5 percent can consume up to PLN 14 billion next year.
