Cristiano Ronaldo was suspended for 30 days for leaving the Portuguese team. The decision was announced by the Disciplinary Committee of the Portuguese Football Union, considering that the footballer deliberately violated the existing rules.
The incidental occurred after the Portugal triumph over Norway 2:1, 27 September in Oslo. The 41-year-old attacker was to be dissatisfied with the deficiency of performance in the meeting. He previously refused training with the squad and exercised individually at the hotel, and then left the group.
Ronaldo explained his deficiency of loyalty by coach Jorge Jesus, who was to mislead him about performances in the League of Nations. However, the trainee denied making any agreement with the footballer, and assured that the door to return to the representation remained open.
Ronaldo was further fined with a symbolic fine of EUR 255.
