At midnight from Monday to Tuesday (6 p.m. in Poland) Canadian retaliation duties entered into force, which concern imports of over 700 goods from the US. This is simply a reaction to 50% of US duties that entered into force in August.
Canadian retaliation duties have 3 rates, 15, 25 and 50 percent for US imports worth $27.6 billion. Carney announced on August 24 the scope of the Canadian consequence said it would amount to a "dollar per dollar".
Prime Minister Mark Carney had no plans to talk to US president Donald Trump, nor were there any negotiations planned – the Canadian media served on Monday.
