Parachuting, ground and water shows training specialists, historical reconstructions – these are just any of the attractions of the XVI Commandos Festival in Dziwnów, which will take place next weekend. “Commandos Festival has been permanently included in the calendar of many people: tourists who are specially planning a vacation to come to Dziwnow at the time, erstwhile soldiers of the 1st Assault Battalion, who was stationed here, as well as operators of peculiar forces units who come here to meet with spectators,” says manager of the Kommanosa Festival, Colonel Witold Brzozowski.
It was in Dziwnow in 1964–1986 that the 1st Assault Battalion (No. 4101) was the first secret unit of commandos in post-war Poland. Specialists from Dziwnow were trained to execute various tasks, including conducting fast landing operations, diversions, reconnaissance, mines and blasting enemy ports. The 1st Battalion comes from today's peculiar units.

The Komandosa Festival will start on Friday 22 August, although its solemn inauguration – an appeal with the participation of peculiar army commanders and erstwhile commandos from Dziwnow – will take place on Saturday morning. The event will be attended by all peculiar units of the Polish Army, which will set up their promotional stands in the park at the main beach exit in Dziwnów. It will so be GROM, Formosis, Commando Military Unit from Lublin, Agat and Nile. Their participation in the beginning ceremony was announced, among others, by Deputy Minister of National Defence Stanisław Wzątek and Deputy Commander General of the Polish Army, erstwhile commander of the peculiar Forces component Gen. Dyw. Sławomir Drumovich. Of course, there will be command of the peculiar Forces Component and operators from individual units. During the ceremony there will be a solemn march of erstwhile commandos from Dziwnow.
One of the biggest attractions of the Commandos Festival is always a skydiving show. This will be the case this year: on Saturday night on parachutes, Polish specialists will jump to land on the river Strange, and the operators of Formozy will show their actions on the water.
The programme besides includes historical reconstructions. The Historical Reconstruction Group "Nałęcz" will show on Saturday the arms and equipment of the 1st Poznań Legions Regiment, and there will besides be a staging titled "Soldiers of the End of War" utilizing black powder weapons. respective times the performance will be played dressed in Scottish dummies uniforms from the Pipes and Drums group.
