The bailout strategy in Poland will apply from 1 October 2025. From that day on, there will be packages in the stores to which the corresponding deposit will be charged. However, it turns out that prices can increase not only by this additional charge. The negative financial consequences can besides be felt by entrepreneurs who do not join the system.

Deposit for plastic bottles and not only will it be charged on receipts soon. That's what the price of drinks will increase.

Importantly, the deposit will not be included in the price of the drink, but added on the receipt as a separate item. As a result, we will pay PLN 4.97. To recover the money, we will gotta return the empty package at the designated collection points without having to show a receipt. On the another hand, experts inform that basic drinks prices may increase independently to cover the costs of the changes. We discussed this problem in the erstwhile article on the fact that Poland has set a very short deposit system. However, this is not the end of possible complications.
The Polish bailout strategy can become a origin of problems. Experts item challenges
The Ombudsman besides looked at the bailout strategy in Poland. There are more than 55 1000 shops in Poland, which will not be covered by the bailout strategy due to their metres (it is mandatory to introduce more than 200 m2 of stores and little than 200 m2 of them if they sale drinks in reusable glass bottles). This means that tiny and medium-sized entrepreneurs will not bear the costs of introducing it, but may announcement large differences in turnover due to failure of customers.
On the example of another countries, it has been noted that non-compliance with the strategy can origin a decrease in the store's turnover by up to 30%. The perception of the hazard of consumers circumventing commercial establishments not covered by the bail strategy is not isolated and is even shared by MKIŚ
- reads the RPO Public Information Bulletin. Finally, it is worth noting that only bottles with a appropriate bail mark can be returned.
One must be aware that the loudly announced date of 1 October is not truly the date of entry of the bail system. This is the date that determines erstwhile producers may place deposit packages on the market. They can, but they don't have to. The transitional period lasts until the end of the year, which means that deposit logo packages can scope stores up to 2-3 months after the start of the system
- stressed Finance Marcin Derenda, president of AKE Technologies, in an interview with the HR. Attempts to return the packaging without marking will end in an understatement, which may discourage consumers from entering the full system.
