Jubilee edition of iconic watch A581‘Shanghai’

On the occasion of the 68th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese watch description Shanghai Watch mill (chin. 上海手表厂), during the period of the late passed "magazine" the company released a commemorative watch of its production. It is simply a replica of the first watch produced in this Shanghai company, and at the same time the first watch entirely produced in China. This fact was highly crucial for Chinese images. It was expected to break the stereotype that the Chinese can repair watches, but they are incapable to master the secrets of mechanical timer production.

The first Chinese watch received the A581 mill code and the trade name "Shanghai".

The A581 "ShangHai" had 17 stones, a mechanics with an external diameter of 25.6 mm, was waterproof, after the mechanics spring was shot he could walk continuously for over 36 hours. Within 24 hours, he may be in a hurry, or late within no more than 1 minute.

The owner of 1 of the first copies of this watch was Zhou En Lai (1898-1976, chin. 周恩来), then Prime Minister of People's China. He wore it during all public appearances as well as during his abroad travels.

In 1956, its premiere, the A581 "ShangHai" watch cost 60 RMB (today it is about PLN 33).

This year's jubilee version of the A581 "ShangHai" was available in respective versions; with a leather strap or bracelet, with a gold numberplate, silver or black numberplate.

Price, depending on the version, from 1480 to 2960 RMB (from approx. 822 to 1644 PLN).
